Between Two Truths - An Exhibition of Photography

This is the inaugural exhibition of Photography at the new Smokehouse Gallery based inside H. Forman & Son's salmon smokehouse on Hackney Wick's Fish Island. This is the centre of the capitals largest and fastest growing artistic community on the edge of the rapidly changing 2012 Olympic site. Opening on Thursday 6th May, and curated by Matthew Booth, this exhibition brings together strands of photography by Artists who are dealing with its elemental nature:- Light, Darkness, Shadows, Details, Focus, and the Illusion of Space - a new movement which is returning to the essence and origins of photography.

Re-Silicone

Re-silicone centres round the design and production of bespoke eco-conscious products and installations made from re-used rubber silicone. As the supply of silicone is dependent on customer demand and specification, the element of unpredictability is a key feature of the Re-silicone brand, celebrating the concept of waste and re-use to inform the design process.

Location Photography for Aline Johnson

From her studio at Cockpit Arts in London, Aline designs and produces a range of fused and kiln-formed glass tableware, lighting and vases which she sells through galleries in the UK, Europe and USA. She works to commission on architectural projects in the UK. Her inspiration is fuelled by her affinity for the Jurassic coast of Dorset where she spends a lot of her time. The vibrant palette of beach paraphernalia, stripes on windbreaks and seaside rock translate with ease into bright designs in fused glass.

Here I photographed several of her leaf chandeliers.

To see more of Aline's range please visit her website at: www.alinejohnson.co.uk/

Another beautiful set of images of the rennovation of the old EMI building. Every time I visit this place I am amazed by the quality of the light.
These images show the progress so far of the Halcrow fit out.

Gas Works Gallery - Tim Etchells

Gasworks presents the first solo exhibition in a London public gallery by Tim Etchells, which brings together two works previously unseen in the UK.

Art Flavours reflects Etchells' interest in the encounter between different discourses and cultural frames, exploring the potential for communication and miscommunication between them. A Master Ice Cream maker is asked to create flavours based on the concepts of The Body, Memory, Spectacle and The Archive. City Changes, the second piece on show at Gasworks, is constructed around a game of linguistic manipulation. Using the format of A4 documents, the piece consists of twenty text works displayed in sequence. "In its tracking of the transformation or mutation of a single text through numerous contradictory versions, City Changes renders visible the process of writing itself, producing a complex colour-coded trace of the decisions, additions and omissions of each new incarnation."

The exhibition runs from 5th February 2010 - 28th March 2010. More information is available at www.gasworks.org.uk
